Our Story

Malthouse Vets began with a simple idea: to create a place where pets and their owners feel genuinely cared for. Our practice sits in Narberth’s old Malthouse, once a part of the town’s history and now lovingly restored into a veterinary clinic. What started as a run-down building has become a welcoming space, equipped with everything needed to care for animals to the highest standard. Behind it all is a small, dedicated team who believe in being open, approachable, and treating every pet as an individual. This is our story, and we’re proud to share it with you.

Malthouse Vets was born from a love of animals, a love of Pembrokeshire, and a vision to create a different kind of veterinary practice.

Bronwyn, our owner and lead Veterinary Surgeon, moved to Wales from Wicklow, Ireland, over 15 years ago. She quickly fell in love with Pembrokeshire’s beauty and community — and not long after, with her husband Alex too. Together, they set about making their dream a reality: a purpose-built, independent practice where pets and their owners would always come first.

The practice is housed in Narberth’s old Malthouse, a historic building once part of the town’s brewing heritage. Bronwyn designed the practice, while Alex project-managed its restoration with the help of skilled local craftsmen, transforming a vacant, run-down site into a warm and welcoming clinic. While the character of the old Malthouse remains, the inside has been thoughtfully equipped with modern veterinary facilities, including digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house blood machines, a full laboratory and separate dog and cat wards.

What makes Malthouse Vets special isn’t just the building, but the ethos behind it. We are proud to be an independent, family-run practice where decisions are made for the right reasons: what’s best for you and your pet. Our team takes time to listen, to explain options clearly and to treat every case as individual. We go above and beyond to ensure you feel confident and comfortable leaving your pets in our care.

Led by Bronwyn’s extensive experience in small animal medicine and surgery, and supported by a dedicated team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Animal Care Assistants, support staff and Receptionists, we are here to provide honest, ethical, and compassionate veterinary care for the pets you love.
